13-Year-Old Critical Following Crash In Hudson Valley

A  13-year-old is in critical condition after being hit by an SUV while riding a scooter in the Hudson Valley.

The crash took place in Dutchess County around 2:30 p.m., Sunday, May 7 in the town of Poughkeepsie at the intersection of IBM Road and West Dogwood Drive.

An investigation determined that a black Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV driven by a 29-year-old woman struck a 13-year-old boy who was riding an electric scooter, said the town of Poughkeepsie Police.

The boy sustained potentially life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to a local hospital, police said.

As of Tuesday, May 9, the boy remains in critical condition, they added.

The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was assisted by the Arlington Fire Department and Mobile Life Support Services.

The investigation is ongoing and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is requesting that anyone who may have witnessed the crash contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Division at 845-485-3680.
